So, while many designers were taking break over the holidays, Happy was busy putting out some new products...a CU Keys pack, a date pack, and a template pack. Using the templates and the dates (and Christmas Cookies from a few weeks ago), I made this layout.

Although the templates were designed with P365 in mind, they can be used in many different ways, just like my layout up there.

I've never been a Black Friday shopper. Seriously, I can't even remember ever going out as a kid. As an adult, it didn't change much, however my husband and I have found that it's a great day to go grocery shopping. But I still get a thrill out of seeing the deals, even if I don't want to go after them. In fact, this year, I'm excited to know that I am done shopping except for a few extended family gifts, the dogs, and stockings. Not too shabby in my opinion.

And DRS is deep in planning for this uber-important event.

First thing you should know is that I am a part of the scavenger hunt at DRS. I (will) have hidden a special mini-kit amongst my products in the store. You will get a clue (in the DRS forums) to help you find it. It's beautiful (if I do say so myself).

Also, we will be having a blog train that I'm a part of. That will start on the morning of the 6th (at least that's when my part will go up), oh and I live in Mountain Time, US. (This is on my designing blog)

So, I guess I've been holding onto a lot of my lo lately. I've just had other projects going on and didn't get around to posting these lately.

This lo was done for the Artisan Notebook that just came out for this month. The issue is all about photography and our challenge was to create a layout using (something that I can't think of the word right now) but you take a lot of pictures of one thing, or area, lower the opacity a bit and put the pictures together like a puzzle.

This one uses the new DRS collab for October, Ooh la Lollipop. (Which reminds me that I need to make a post about that on its own...)

This one was for a show-off at Britt-ish Designs. Britt has the greatest customer incentive.

Well a new month means new of everything, so without further ado, here's the new stuff going on for the month of September at DRS...

This month, I'm hosting the Scrap Outside of the Box challenge. And this month, I want you to scrap outside of your album. I think so many times we focus on scrapping for our albums, that we don't think about some of the awesome things that we can do outside of the album, like wall art, cards, invites, flyers, etc. So for this challenge, I just want you to scrap something that is designed to NOT be in an album. This is one of the examples I made...

this is my daughter Lily, and I could totally see this hanging up in her room. In fact my 3 daughters all share a bedroom and I could envision having a matching set with a picture of each and a phrase. (Of course, we'd have to remodel the room first...)

School started last week and suddenly my kids don't know what they have to do, so I made this to do list for afterschool from Happy Go Lucky by Happy Scrap Girl (I also plan to do one for before school, and one that provides them their lunch options...now to just print...)

this lo here is doing something like triple duty... it uses the Guild Monthly Kit from Artisan Notebook, is a Word Up challenge at SM and is the scraplift challenge at DRS, AND the August Mix challenge at Gingerscraps

Do you know what I love about digital scrapbooking?

I'm not artistic. I didn't do well in art classes at school. And once, when I was little, my mom put me and my brothers in art classes over the summer. I distinctly remember it. I also remember that I never got a good job ice cream cone piece of paper. Yeah, I was that bad. It has obviously scarred me for life. But...when I scrapbook on the computer, I am an artist. I get to manipulate the elements and papers and create a true piece of artwork.

What's in a Name?

I have always loved naming things. As a child, I had a whole family of paper dolls that I cut out of magazines, just so I could name them. And as an adult, I have always loved reading through baby name books. (So much so that my husband bought me a baby name book for the Christmas we got married. We had been married for 3 weeks at the time).

Now I have 5 children and I have thoroughly loved naming them. I love the meanings behind names and for each child, I have created a scrapbook page all about the meaning of their names. Maybe you'd be interested in doing that too.

Introducing What's in a Name Wordart Pack. Of course I couldn't make WA out of all the names in my now well-worn baby name book, so what I decided to do is look at the SS naming site and made wordart for the top ten names (both boy and girl) from 2000-2009. (For a full list of names, please click on the preview to go to the product page.) I realize that for many people, this WA won't be able to be used over and over again, so I priced it at a low $1.

Now, I guess you caught that I had 5 kids. So as a freebie, I also made a WA pack as a freebie of all ten of my children's names. (First and middle names). So if your children have any of my children's names, you are in luck!

So, It's been a while. I'm still scrapping, and these are the beauties (if I do say so myself) I've created in the past 3 weeks. iNSD came and went. I found myself not able to participate as much as I had hoped, but I dropped some money here and there. Was saddened that not as many digital stores were having festivities for the holiday. I spent most of my money at SM on grab bags. I just love those things...

Speaking of grab bags, Sarah had a grab bag this weekend. This is some stuff I made with the goodies inside...

This layout is a lot of Sister Sue, but the alpha and the flower (a build-a-blooms set) was in the grab bag....

This was the mini kit in the bag...

Those 2 also were mainly Sarah Bennett products, but some old products (maybe even retired?) and some new were mixed together.

Queen of Scrap is well under way at SM. I'm trying not to shirk my responsibilities at home this year, so my goal is to only get the PP. I think I've done 5 layouts so far this month. Although I'd L-O-V-E to win the tablet...I'm not going to think about it...

I'll admit it. I love ScrapMatter's points system and I regularly try to combine my commitments with different things (a CT layout that also works as a challenge layout.) I picked up Sarah Barber's Nature of Matrimony kit last week and I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it. See, I see so many digi scrapping stuff that I love, and then when I pick it up, I don't know what to do with it...so I've been hanging on. Over this weekend, I decided I wanted to do a layout about my baby's happy nature and then I was perusing SM's challenges and the only one that I could use with the layout in my head was Saturday's (4/17) Saturday Special. And I love the photo treatment that it gave my photo.

Digiridoo Challenges up and Running

Well, April is in full swing...(although you wouldn't know it at my house, we've had snow for a few days now...) but at DRS, the challenges have started up and I don't think you'll want to miss out. This month, you can find a color challenge, a font challenge, a layer it up challenge, an inspiration challenge, and a journaling challenge (plus the other regularly monthly challenges). This month I am hosting the journaling challenge.

The challenge this month is to let your picture speak for itself. Have little to no journaling. Here's my example.

and I already did the inspiration challenge. The inspiration is yourself. Find an older layout that maybe you just aren't pleased with and rework it. I'm so incredibly embarrassed to post my old layout. It wasn't done well, and in the pictures, my son was wearing a light green outfit and was laying on red sheets. Let's say it wasn't exactly pretty, but I changed my photos and made this monochromatic layout instead and I love it so much more! (If you get really curious you can check out the inspiration challenge and I have to post it there...)

So Sarah has been busy perfecting bubble wrap. She has 2 styles for you to choose from. She created a CU Bubble Wrap Brushes Set, so you can do whatever you want to them. I used them in this layout and added a red glitter.

But if you don't have many actions, or just don't care to have to worry about it, she also created a PU set already glittered in fabulous colors. I used the gold ones in this layout.

Have you gotten ScrapMatters' March newsletter? Well I just saw it in my inbox and so I sped through it. If you read all through it, you'll find that Happy Scrap Girl is one of the featured designers this month. Exciting. Exciting. Exciting.

Well, I've been part of the Digiridoo Scraps Mentoring Program for Designers. And I thought that was super that they'd let me try to sell my stuff. But what's even more exciting??

I was taken on as a designer at My Pic Tales. My Pic Tales isn't like a digi-scrapping place. It's a place where you order photo books. So what I'm desigining there is quickpages, made from my kits, for sale for you to use in your photo books. I haven't set up my store yet. It'll probably be a few weeks because I'm going on vacation next week and I don't think I'll have a chance to get much done with planning and packing and cleaning and organizing. But I hope you'll come check me out.

When Bree was telling us her concept of a kit for this month, I don't think she thought it would turn out particularly well, but it turned out AWESOME! Grungy and everything else you'd think, Urban Jungle mixes graffiti and grunge, gray with punches of color. Here are the previews. There are 6! Can you believe it 6 previews? And they're not even all shown.

Wanna Make a Template?

Have you ever tried to make a template? It gets to be a complete pain when you're there doing the png layers. Well, it's not so bad I guess if you don't have a lot of layers, but when you get into the double digits of layers, that' s where I start to lose it. Happy made this great action to make templates. It automatically takes your layered psd document and automatically makes separate png files for each layer. Then you just rename, package and go!

Happy challenged us to try it out and give a template away that we created using her action. I made this layout (using various things from Happy), and then turned it into a template, and it was easy peasy...

I love this page! It came out so much better than I had hoped. It uses the kit Butterfly Whisper by Ldrag Designs. She is at Digiridoo. Digiridoo is having some technical difficulties at the moment, but when they're back up, I'm totally going to link you up. I wanted to apologize for not being around much lately. I had my baby 1 month ago today and I'm only now getting back into the swing of things.

I also recently learned that in the US there is some new law that requires disclosure of endorsements received through free products. As a Creative TEam member, part of my obligation is to provide advertising for the designers I create for. In return, I receive their products for free. Any additional advertising for sites or designers are because I love the work and I want to continue to help them in their business.
